In 2021, Bills’ 17th game will be at home

Bills Mafia was forced to watch games from their couches and stay away from Bills Stadium this past season. Fans are hoping that come September 2021, New York State will allow the majority of fans to re-enter the stadium. A possible reward for Bills fans patience last season is an extra home game, as Peter King reported that it is likely that the AFC teams will host the 17th interconference game this year. Prior to this announcement, we had known that the Bills were playing the winner of the NFC East, but the location was not known.

The Bills will welcome the Washington Football Team to Orchard Park, which on paper, seems like an extremely winnable game for Buffalo. Sean McDermott will go head-to-head against his former boss and mentor Ron Rivera. McDermott is 0-1 against Rivera; the two met in Week 2 of McDermott’s first season with the Bills.

Another interesting nugget from King was that Wild Card weekend would look slightly different for the 2021 season (playoff games played in January 2022). Instead of three games on Saturday and three games on Sunday, which was met with great success this year, the league has decided to take one of the games from Saturday and put it on Monday. Presumably, a Monday Night Football game will wrap up the final game of Wild Card weekend.
