The Bills have already clinched the AFC Eastern Division, but there is still a lot to play for after the Steelers lost to the Bengals Monday night, which vaulted the Bills to the #2 spot in the AFC. Below are the staff predictions for the Monday Night Showdown in Foxboro.
Stats
I think the Bills will continue with what has been working for them and Josh Allen has another big game through the air. The Patriots tend to give Allen a little bit of trouble when it comes to ball security, so I think he will end the night with an interception. I say Allen will finish 25/43 for 283 yds, 3 passing TD’s and 1 INT. Allen’s three touchdown passes will be to Singletary, Beasley and Gabriel Davis. Stefon Diggs is only 54 yards away from setting the Bills single-season franchise record for yards in a season. One week after becoming the franchise’s single season leader for receptions in a season, I think Diggs will break this record as well finishing with 8 rec for 88 yards. Finally, I think Singletary and Moss continue to split time in the run game as both finish with around 15 carries and Moss scoring the only touchdown on the ground. -Michael, Editor in Chief
Final Score
It has been a really special season for the Bills; ending the losing streak to the Patriots back in November and finally winning the AFC East after 25 years with Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs leading the way. Some might say that winning the AFC East was easier this year since Tom Brady has moved on from the Patriots, but that is a retort that I have resented all year. The fact is, the Patriots have been eliminated from the AFC Playoffs this season and the Bills are the champs with an 11-3 record. Even with the Patriots still in the division, an 11-3 record might have finally put them over the Patriots anyway. The last time that the Bills won in Foxboro was back in 2016 with a 16-0 shutout victory during the Rex Ryan era, a game that Tom Brady did not play in. The last time that the Bills swept the Patriots was back in 2000. I am pretty confident that the Bills will sweep New England but the Patriots will not go down easy on Monday night. I think New England will be ready to play and give the Bills a competitive game. After all, they are still the New England Patriots that have caused fits for the Bills for the last 20 years.
