Filling Needs: Part 3

Even though it was a sloppy win, strong defense and a last second field goal, the team at One Bills Drive must be feeling better about themselves.  For the third installment of Filling Needs I thought I would add a different position, see the defensive lineman below.  Not a huge need, but when the best players in the draft are on the defensive line, and the Bills looking like a team picking near the top of that draft, we might as well see what’s available.

David Edwards, Junior OT – Wisconsin
Height: 6’7″ Weight: 315 lbs.

If you want big, athletic run-blockers then this is the guy for you.  Edwards was a high school quarterback and came to Madison to play tight end.  He starts at Wisconsin so you know he can run block, but he needs to improve his pass blocking to be an elite offensive tackle.  Last season Edwards was a consensus 2nd Team All-Big Ten and made many All-American lists.  This season he was on the Preseason watch list for the Outland trophy (Best Lineman).
7:30 ET on ABC at Michigan

Deebo Samuel, Senior WR – South Carolina
Height: 6’0″ Weight: 210 lbs.

Not the biggest, not the fastest, but maybe the best playmaker at the WR/KR position in all of college football.  Samuel is projected as a late first round pick but has the skills to possibly climb higher.  In an injury-shortened season of 2017, he averaged five receptions, 83.3 yards and a touchdown a game.  In his first four games this season, Samuel has 22 catches and 2 touchdown receptions.  He has three career kick-return touchdowns.
3:30 ET on SEC Network vs Texas A&M

Ed Oliver, Senior DT – Houston
Height: 6’3″ Weight: 292 lbs.

From the bottom of the first round to the top of it.  Let’s face it, I do not see the Bills running off 10-12 wins and going on another playoff run so let’s look at a player that would be an instant impact on the defense.  Ed Oliver is probably going to be the number one overall pick.  This guy is a stud.  Last week in a game against Tulsa, Oliver had 13 tackles from the DT position. He has won every major award and honor for a Defensive Tackle.  He will be the perfect replacement for Kyle Williams. (This is the player I hope the Bills draft, if they do not go with an Offensive Tackle)
7 PM ET on CBS Sports Network at ECU

There you go, three games, three players to watch, three needs to fill.  Next week, I will look back and update the seasons that some of these players are having. Let us at Buffalo Authority know what you think.  Comment, Tweet, Share… And as always Let’s Go Buffalo!
