Last night the Buffalo Bills took a crushing defeat by the New York Jets by a score of 34-21 to fall to 5-3. The Bills struggled a lot vs New York last night. Buffalo played an absolutely horrible game last night. Here’s everything that happened.
Buffalo couldn’t get the run game going. Last night was another poor game by our RBs. LeSean McCoy couldn’t get anything going again this season, totaling just 25 rushing yards on 12 attempts. Buffalo’s offense accumulated 63 yards on the ground, mostly coming from QB Tyrod Taylor.
“We came into their house and they outplayed us, Taylor said. “They were really aggressive today and played to their strengths.”
Our offensive line couldn’t block all game. The offensive line allowed a total of 7 sacks and 11 QB hits on the night. Here’s what HC Sean McDermott said about what the Jets were doing to pressure Taylor:
“They were challenging us with an eight-man box and doing some good stuff up front. Really, it was just fundamentally they were doing some good things technique-wise. Obviously, we can do a better job in that area.”
The offense couldn’t get anything going until late in the 4th quarter. QB Tyrod Taylor totaled 285 yards and 2 TDs in the air and 35 yards and 1 TD on the ground. Most of which came late in the 4th quarter. Taylor threw a 26 yard TD to WR Deonte Thompson. Taylor then rushed for a 1 yard TD a couple minutes later.
Buffalo’s defense couldn’t stop anyone during the game. Jets RB Matt Forte rushed for 2 TDs and QB Josh McCown rushed for another one to put the team’s first points on the board. WR Robby Anderson had a 25 yard TD to put the Jets up 17-7. The defense totaled only 1 sack all game from DT cedric Thornton.
Rookie WR Zay Jones caught his first career TD last night, which was arguably his best game all year. He totaled 6 receptions for 53 yards and a TD before leaving the game with an injury. QB Tyrod Taylor had this to say about Jones:
“He’s a warrior. He wants to be out there on the field. He wants to compete. He’s a confident guy. I hope the injury isn’t too bad. I want him out there on the field because I know his passion for the game and how he wants to be out there.”
Buffalo faces a 5-2 New Orleans Saints team next week at New Era Field.
